Glorious Sky

Blue canopies, voluminous clouds and spectacular sunsets are all part of the Cyprus experience. Some of the pictures are from early spring, taken as I walked on my favourite beach at St. Raphael.

I often contemplated Psalm 19 as I looked upwards:

"The heavens declare the glory of God,

and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.

Day to day pours out speech,

and night to night reveals knowledge.

There is no speech, nor are there words,

whose voice is not heard.

Their voice goes out through all the earth,

and their words to the end of the world.

In them he has set a tent for the sun,

which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber,

and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.

Its rising is from the end of the heavens,

and its circuit to the end of them,

and there is nothing hidden from its heat."

Psalm 19:1-6

"Softly the evening came with the sunset." Longfellow

Watching the sunset is often a memorable experience at the end of the day. The soft glow brings tranquility as night descends and we give God praise for the day that is past.

"We give thanks to you, O God;

we give thanks, for your name is near.

We recount your wondrous deeds."

Psalm 75:1
