Not only is the beautiful, traditional architecture of Pano Lefkara outstanding, but the colourful doors of the houses also make an impression. Their style is mostly neoclassical and many have been restored to their former glory.
The style and variety of the doors characterize most Cypriot villages.
On a recent visit, I found an attractive blue door bearing a welcome wreath and the sign in the picture beside it:
The word 'home' says it all!
We all have a yearning for a home on earth, a place which is safe and cosy, a place where we can be ourselves and be accepted for who we are. Just as these beautiful doors lead to an earthly home, there is a door to a Heavenly home.
Jesus said in John 10:9 - "I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved..."
He invites us to enter by faith in Him and His atoning work on the cross.
Before Jesus went to Calvary, He gathered the disciples in the Upper Room and comforted them with the following words:
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also." John 14:1-3
These words go out to His children today! A heavenly home awaits those who know Him as Saviour and follow Him. He is the Door that leads home.
