Under A Cloud

Some of you may feel as if you are living under a cloud like the one pictured above due to the unprecedented events of our world during this past year. Many of us find ourselves under lockdown once again with restricted movement and social contact, which are necessary measures to inhibit the spread of the virus. It really hits home when friends and family members become infected. The virus is a real threat and it is not going away just yet!

It is amazing how black, ominous storm clouds can be just behind us when things appear calm and sunny on the horizon! The same could be said of the year 2020!

Rather than focusing on the cloud, let us remember who is in control ultimately. As Christians, we believe God is sovereign, keeping watch on the evil and the good (Proverbs 15:3). If you are going through difficult circumstances you may be wondering where God is in all of this. Through Bible study this week, I have been taking comfort in these words:

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;

And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.

When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,

Nor shall the flame scorch you.

Isaiah 43:2

Being human automatically means we will face arduous challenges and demanding situations, but God reminds us that He is with us in the circumstances. Notice it does not say if you pass through the waters or if you walk through the fire, but rather when you pass through the waters... No one sails through life without encountering clouds and storms. Take courage in the fact that our Sovereign Lord is with His people as we journey through life.

For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Hebrews 13:5

He is only a prayer away!
